Before Krampus arrives, you hear him. The deep, discordant peal of his bell cuts through the winter night. He knows where you are. He is coming. You still have a moment—the kindest fate, a warning only.
Mend your ways while there’s time.
The Punishment
Warnings went unheeded. The switch awaits. The Ruten—a bundle of birch branches—is one of Krampus’s most recognizable instruments. Some behavior requires something more persuasive than a warning.
Take your punishment and do better.
The Captivity
Penance won’t save you. You have been warned, felt the switch and learned absolutely nothing. It takes a special kind of persistence to get here. Krampus almost admires it.
